How to enjoy Barcelona in June
Here are our top activities and general recommendations to enjoy Barcelona in June.
Enjoy the day at the beach!
First up on our list of recommendations is a much-needed beach day!
June is a great time to hit the beaches in Barcelona, as the weather is usually warm and sunny. The city has several beaches to choose from, including the popular Barceloneta Beach. This beach is known for its lively atmosphere, with plenty of bars, restaurants, and street performers to enjoy.

Aside from Barceloneta, though, the Catalan Capital has several other beaches worth visiting, including:
Bogatell Beach
Located just north of Barceloneta Beach, Bogatell Beach is a quieter option with fewer crowds. The beach is popular with families and is a great place to swim, sunbathe and relax.
Bogatell Beach is a stunning 702 meters of golden sand and crystal clear green water. You don’t need fancy footwear to enjoy the softness underfoot, but be prepared for an invigorating dip as you enter the refreshing sea. This beach caters to all types of visitors, whether you’re traveling alone or looking for some relaxation with friends or family.
Although it can get busy in high season, there’s plenty of room for everyone to soak up the sun at Bogatell Beach. And the best part? It’s completely free!
With amenities such as sun loungers and umbrellas, and changing rooms, showers and toilets nearby, this beautiful coastline has everything you need for a perfect day on Barcelona’s shores.
Safety is also taken seriously here at Playa de Bogatell – lifeguards are always present during the high season, so swimmers can feel safe while enjoying what nature has to offer!
But if soaking up the rays isn’t your thing, then don’t worry, there are plenty of recreational facilities too, such as table tennis tables (one near the breakwater), football pitches right on the shoreline itself & volleyball courts located at the far end towards the Mar Bella breakwaters, ensuring that no one gets bored while enjoying their time in this picturesque location!
Nova Icaria Beach
This is another popular beach near the Olympic Village. It is known for its clean sand and calm waters, making it a great place to swim and relax.
So, if you are looking for a quiet beach to spend some quality time with your family or friends, then look no further than Nova Icària Beach! This beautiful stretch of sand is located near Port Olímpic, which means you’ll have plenty of options when it comes to food and entertainment.
At 415 meters long, this beach is the perfect size for relaxing without feeling crowded. In fact, many visitors choose to spend more time here than at other beaches in Barcelona because it’s so quiet and peaceful.
But don’t let that fool you into thinking there’s nothing to do here – Nova Icària has one of the widest ranges of leisure facilities on offer. Children will love playing in the playground or challenging their parents to a game of table tennis at the Bogatell breakwater. Meanwhile, sports enthusiasts can get active on two volleyball courts near Olympic Harbor.
In short, if you’re looking for peace and quiet combined with fun activities nearby, then head straight to Nova Icària Beach!
Attend a music festival
June is a great time for music lovers to visit Barcelona, as the city hosts several music festivals during this month, such as the hotly anticipated Primavera Sound Festival.
Primavera Sound is an annual music festival that takes place in Barcelona, this year from May the 29th to June the 4th. The festival is known for its diverse lineup, which features a mix of indie, rock, pop, and electronic music acts from around the world.
This year, the lineup does not disappoint! With acts like Kendrick Lamar, Calvin Harris, Halsey and Blur, you don’t want to miss out…
Another great option is the Sonar festival. Conveniently located in the gorgeous Barcelona, it is one of the most important events in the electronic and experimental music scenes, featuring a diverse lineup of music acts, ranging from electronic dance music to experimental and avant-garde artists. Sonar festival will take place a little later on in the month than Primavera, from the 15th to the 17th of June. Be sure to check it out!

Enjoy an al-fresco dinner
Barcelona has many fabulous outdoor restaurants where you can enjoy the city’s warm weather and delicious food.
Here are our favorite outdoor restaurants in the city.
Can Majó
This seafood restaurant is located on the beach in Barceloneta and offers stunning views of the sea.
Majó may not always live up to its former glory, but it still offers food that surpasses most of the tourist traps in the area.
Its signature dishes include caldero de bogavante – a delightful mix of paella and lobster bouillabaisse – and suquet, which is fish cooked in its own juices. The terrace offers an elegant option for those seeking a break from the nearby beach bars, while enjoying stunning views of Barceloneta Beach.
The outdoor terrace is a great spot to enjoy fresh seafood dishes like paella or grilled fish.
La Flauta
This popular restaurant in the Eixample district has a large outdoor terrace where you can enjoy traditional Catalan cuisine, including grilled meats and seafood.
This lively bar takes its name from the flute-shaped bread used for the sandwiches, but that’s not all. You’ll find an endless variety of tapas and small plates with seasonal wild mushrooms, baby squid or wild asparagus – there’s something for everyone!
Take a walk down the Ramblas
La Rambla is a popular pedestrian street in the centre of Barcelona that is a must-visit for many tourists.
During the summer months, there are plenty of things to see and do. So take a stroll and enjoy the street performers, artists, and vendors selling souvenirs and local goods. La Rambla is also home to some impressive street art in Barcelona, including murals and installations. Take a walk and have a look at what catches your eye!
Or why not visit the Boqueria Market? Located just off the Ramblas, La Boqueria is one of the largest and most famous markets in Europe. It’s a great place to sample local food and drink. What’s not to like?
Corpus Christi and the Dancing Egg
In many parts of Spain, including Catalonia, the festival of Corpus Christi is celebrated with a unique tradition known as the Dancing Egg. As part of this unique tradition, a hollow eggshell is emptied and refilled with wax and then balanced on a jet of water, allowing it to dance.
Check it out at Poble Espanyol or outside the Barcelona Cathedral on June the 8th!
